A personal world of monochrome photography, faith, folklore and the mysteries beyond the familiar.
Victoria begins with photography. Long before images existed instantly on a screen, my world was film, developer, enlargers and the quiet magic of the darkroom - watching an image slowly emerge from what, moments before, appeared to be nothing.
Black and white photography taught me to see differently. Without colour to explain the picture, everything depended upon light, shadow, shape, texture and atmosphere. That way of seeing has never left me.
Victoria is an extension of that photographic life: part memory, part imagination and part exploration of everything that has continued to fascinate me along the way.
Where it began
A Life in Light & Shadow
There is something about monochrome that has always felt more mysterious than colour. It removes the ordinary and leaves behind form, emotion and suggestion.
Old negatives, grain, silver, deep blacks, pale highlights, church stone caught by a shaft of light, mist disappearing into darkness. These are not simply a visual style. They are part of the way I learned to make and understand images.
The things that draw me back
Between the Seen & Unseen
My interests have never belonged neatly to one subject. Victoria brings them together within the same monochrome world - places, beliefs, legends and possibilities that carry a sense of age, mystery or something just beyond explanation.
Faith & Sacred Places
The Cross, scripture, traditional churches, Gothic architecture and the ancient relationship between darkness, light and belief.
Myth & Folklore
Dragons, legendary creatures, old stories and the folklore carried from one generation to another.
Spirits & Shadows
Ghosts, spirits, moonlit places and those moments when an ordinary landscape begins to feel anything but ordinary.
Beyond the Known
Aliens, unexplained phenomena and the possibility that reality may be rather stranger than the small part of it we understand.
The place where reality, memory, belief and imagination begin to overlap - where something can feel impossible, yet somehow familiar.
An old way of seeing · A new way of creating
From Darkroom to Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence has introduced a remarkable new creative medium, but for me it does not replace photography or the years spent learning how light creates an image.
Instead, it meets that experience. Photography, digital work and AI can now exist together - allowing ideas that once lived only in imagination to be explored with the same fascination I once felt watching a photograph appear beneath the darkroom light.
The tools have changed. The search for the image has not.
